This course is designed for managers, business developers, digital officers, consultants, policymakers, and others who are involved in generating business value with digital technologies. Blockchain technology can be applied in any business sector. The course can be taken as a single course or as part of a full Master of Business Development.

Digital Business


During the first two days of the course, we focus on the logic of digital economy and the emergence of platform-based business. We will cover how firms compete with platforms and how to build a platform business. The following two days broadens the perspective to include the business ecosystem, where multiple platforms collaborate and compete with each other. In some cases, firms will even end up in bed with their enemies. We will put these developments into context so that you will understand how and why many start-up and growth companies today engage in digital marketing, app development, social media, online news and information services, crowdsourcing, and online innovation services. In addition, traditional businesses such as publishing, entertainment, and banking are facing an on-going digitalization that drags them into the digital arena – an economic arena with its own economic and competitive principles.

Python programming

Course content and structure:

The primary goal of this course is to introduce Python programming skills to the students with a purpose to collect, transform, model, analyze and visualizes broad range of datasets. The course uses the Python programming language to learn how to work with numerical, string, and more complex data formats, and to perform data analysis with basic data mining and machine algorithms using both supervised and unsupervised approaches.

With a keep focus on open source technologies, the course will focus providing hands-on experience with open source libraries in Python for data mining, machine learning and data visualizations. Finally, students will develop practical programming skills in problem solving by working on real-world datasets as part of their final project.

Course content:

  • Introduction to Python programming language constructs such as programming basics, control flow, Operators, expressions, choice, repetition

  • Functions, data structures and collections in Python language

  • Object oriented programming features of Python language such as classes, methods.

  • Exception handling, standard libraries, consuming external APIs and open source libraries to develop programs

  • Data transformations and text processing including reading and writing files

  • Data analysis with basic data mining and machine learning algorithms for clustering, classification using unsupervised and supervised approaches

  • Data visualizations using open source libraries in Python such as matplotlib, ggplot, pygal etc.

Kursets indhold, forløb og pædagogik

Modulet inddrager nyeste bidrag fra litteraturen, eksempler fra den offentlige debat kombineret med nogle af de tidligste overvejelser fra forskningslitteraturen, som berører konsekvenserne af automatisering og digitalisering af arbejdsopgaver.

Kursets undervisningsgange er organiseret som en række temaer.

  1. Introduktion til digitalisering af professionelles kompetencer: Teknologier, visioner og status. Digitaliseringens indflydelse på arbejdsmarkedet. Hvilke jobs forsvinder hvilke kompetencer bliver efterspurgt?

  2. Tilbageblik: Udsyn fra dengang hvor teknologien ikke var moden men forestillingerne om digitalisering af professionelles kompetancer var intakt og optimistisk 3) Digtialiseringens muligheder i det professionelle virke. Del 1: definering af professionelles kerneaktiviteter.

  3. Digtialiseringens muligheder i det professionelle virke. Del 2: digitalisering af det professionelle skøn og andre aktiviteter professionelle traditionelt har haft eneret til.

  4. Praksis: Eksempler på hvordan Evidence Based Management, AI og data anvendes som beslutningsstøtte.

  5. Afrunding af kurset. Discussion af mulige fremtidsscenarier, myter omkring automatisering og digitalisering og praktiske implikationer på egne arbejdsopgaver her og nu.

Foundations of Blockchain and Crypto-

Learning objectives

  • Describe the phenomena of blockchain technology

  • Summarize different fundamental concepts, techniques, and methods

  • Explore different platforms (such as Ethereum) to implement applications on blockchain-based technologies such as smart contracts

  • Outline the applicability of blockchain technology for different domains and use cases for finance and other domains.

Course prerequisites

  • Some experience with programming languages is an advantage, but not mandatory.

Course content and structure

The aim of this course is to provide knowledge about various concepts, techniques and methods that are serving as foundation to blockchain technology. This course will also introduce the workings and applications of this potentially disruptive technology, by taking Bitcoin cryptocurrency as one of the examples. Furthermore, the potential impact of blockchain technology on the banking and financial industry, governments, contracting and identity management will also be discussed as part of this course.
